The countdown is over—after months of training camps, selections, and setbacks, the JSSN U19 International Series officially gets underway this Saturday in Wellington.

The Australian-based development side faces off against the New Zealand Youth National Squad in what promises to be a fiery opening clash. For many, it will be their first taste of international netball—bright lights, packed stadiums, and the pressure of wearing their league’s colours on foreign soil.

Squad Spotlight
The JSSN comes into the tour brimming with talent despite the heartbreak of losing Sienna Housby (Bronteys) to an ACL injury just two weeks ago. Her replacement, Maya Linton (Shooters), has slotted quickly into the squad and is tipped to play a big role across the five-game campaign.

The Panthers’ powerhouse contingent—Chloe Dyglet, Ruby Parmenter, Lily Weston, Amelia Antiss— provide the backbone of the side, with Dyglet expected to master from the shooting circle.

Across the defensive end, expect fireworks from Lucy Allen (Bronteys) and Jessika Grant (Roos), who will need to counter New Zealand’s tall shooting duo.

Predicted Starting Seven (Match 1)
GS – Sara-Jane Kent (Whales- Captain)

GA – Chloe Dyglet (Panthers)

WA – Jada Watson (Bronteys- Vice Captain)

C – Ruby Parmenter (Panthers)

WD – Kayla Deane (Giants)

GD – Kayla Cransburg (Bronteys)

GK – Lily Weston (Panthers)

*Impact players: *, Amelia Antiss (WA/C), Jessika Grant (GD/WD), Lucy Allen (GK/GD), Teegan Simms (WA/GA), Harper Vale (WD), Ella Jamison (WA/WD), Brooklyn Shaw (GD), Jessika Grant (GS/GA), Marlee Hinton (GK,WD), Taylee Wood (WA/C), Izzy Port (GA/WA), Grace Angie (WD/C), Maddi Fleet (C/WA), Maya Linton (WA/GA)

Opposition Watch: New Zealand Youth
The Kiwis will be led by Sophie-Mae Raukura (GS), a towering shooter with a silky touch, supported by the pace of Aria Whaitiri (WA) in attack. Their physical defensive unit is built around Tahlia Ngata (GK)—a shot-blocking specialist who will test the composure of Australia’s young shooters.

What’s at Stake
This is more than just a curtain-raiser—it sets the tone for the series. Win Game 1, and momentum swings firmly to the victors. For the JSSN, it’s a chance to silence the Wellington crowd and prove their depth, despite the absence of Housby. For New Zealand, it’s an opportunity to draw first blood at home and ignite their campaign.

Coach’s Call
“This group has shown resilience and unity through a tough preparation. The energy is high, the belief is strong, and we’re ready to take on the challenge,”

said JSSN head coach Renae Carter ahead of the tour opener.
