This week marked a pivotal moment in the Old Man Basketball season as teams jockey for position heading into the closing weeks. Huron Gastro continued their impressive run, extending their winning streak to four games, while Goldstein Dental rebounded with a strong performance to end their two-game losing streak. Both teams now share the top ranking with identical records of 8 wins and 2 losses, highlighting the competitive nature of the league this season. Meanwhile, Muscle Milk's struggles have continued, with their latest loss marking a fifth consecutive defeat, further entrenching them at the bottom of the standings. As teams push toward a playoff atmosphere, the intensity of the matchups is palpable, setting the stage for an exciting finish to the season.

Huron Gastro 58, Muscle Milk 50

With the game hanging in the balance, Huron Gastro's Alex Spiess took charge during a crucial stretch, scoring six points in the last three minutes, helping secure a 58-50 victory over Muscle Milk. Spiess finished the night with a personal best of 22 points and also contributed 9 rebounds, 2 assists, and 2 steals, reflecting a significant improvement in his performance compared to his regular season averages. Meanwhile, Albert Robinson showcased his versatility with a double-double, putting up 16 points and 10 rebounds, and dishing out 6 assists, while Billy Crain added 6 points, 14 rebounds, and a remarkable 3 steals, also registering a personal best. Jamaal Willis also posted a double-double with 16 points and 10 rebounds, demonstrating resilience despite the loss. This marked the second consecutive victory for Huron Gastro against Muscle Milk, as they continue to lead the all-time series 2-0.

Ball Don't Lie 59, Goldstein Dental 72

In the first playoff matchup between Goldstein Dental and Ball Don't Lie, the players maintained the competitive edge showcased in their previous game this season, where Goldstein narrowly secured a win. This time, Goldstein demonstrated their strength, ultimately winning by 13 points. Bennie Szczepkowski was an outstanding force for Goldstein, scoring a remarkable 40 points, which included six three-pointers, while adding eight rebounds and three assists. This effort was crucial, especially as Goldstein pulled away in the fourth quarter. Meanwhile, Jason White's double-double for Ball Don't Lie—21 points and 14 rebounds—was notable, alongside Darrell Jeffreys, who scored 15 points on an impressive shooting night, well above his regular season average.
