What a wild week in Old Man Basketball! The standing shake-up had all the makings of a classic showdown, as teams flailed about trying to grab a firm hold on their playoff dreams. Huron Gastro Dream Mobile and Goldstein Dental all continued their impressive runs, posting wins, while others like New Era Landscaping and Detroit Build hit bumps in the road with losses they weren't expecting. Muscle Milk ended their five-game skid in style, flexing their muscles to grab a victory over Detroit Build, proving that with a little determination, the tide can turn even when it seems hopeless. Talk about coming back from the brink! As the playoffs heat up, the air is charged with excitement and a sprinkle of chaos — just the way we like it!

New Era Landscaping 47, Nosan Signature Homes 77

These two teams were looking for bragging rights as they matched up for the second time in their history, having split their first two meetings. This time, it was Nosan Signature Homes that not only took care of business but did so with flair, defeating New Era Landscaping by a solid 30 points. The star of the night was Ian McDonald, who lit it up for 34 points, including an impressive ten three-pointers. His teammate Jake Billmeyer also shone brightly, contributing with a double-double of 26 points and 19 rebounds. Not far behind was Cory Noelker, who filled the stat sheet with five points and a career-high four assists, showcasing his playmaking skills. For New Era Landscaping, Jared Carithers fought valiantly to score 16 points, while Tymon Marshall pulled off a double-double of his own with 10 points and 10 rebounds. Darius Freeman also made some noise, hitting two three-pointers and snagging a pair of steals. It was a memorable night for Nosan as they pulled ahead in the all-time series, while New Era will need to regroup—hopefully before the next meeting!

Wallside Windows 57, Athletico 58

What a night for Eric Christian, who finally found his rhythm and posted a personal best of 11 points, shooting three three-pointers as well. This performance came just in time for Athletico, whose nail-biting playoff victory over Wallside Windows hinged on a stellar team effort. Anthony Andrews led the charge with 14 points and contributed four assists, while Brandon Daniels dished out an impressive eight assists to keep the ball moving. Even Tim Washington had a breakout night with 12 points, more than doubling his regular season average. For Wallside, Adam Sabree's double-double was certainly a highlight, putting up 21 points and 11 boards, but it wasn’t enough to overcome the strong collective effort from Athletico. Olin Troutman tried to keep things interesting, scoring 20 points, but it seems the scoreboard just didn't go their way this time. Wallside Windows will surely be looking to shake off this close loss as they ponder a comeback for future encounters.

Huron Gastro 59, Play For A Cause 58

In a nail-biting finish, Huron Gastro squeezed past Play For A Cause, winning by just a single point. The night showcased two distinct styles: Huron's dynamic offense led by Albert Robinson, who lit it up with 24 points and contributed heavily with five assists, against Play For A Cause's sharper shooting, especially from Devaughn Hill, who knocked down five three-pointers en route to 21 points. The first period saw the high-flying Robinson opening the scoring with an early basket, and while Hill soon equalized with a three, it set the tone for a back-and-forth battle. Not to be outdone, Billy Crain orchestrated the flow for Huron, racking up seven assists on top of his 6 points and dominating the boards with 13 rebounds. Play For A Cause’s DC Clark joined the party with a strong double-double of 13 points and 11 rebounds, but it just wasn’t enough to turn the tide. After this thrilling clash, Huron Gastro now leads the all-time series 2-0, but this contest proved that every point matters – especially when it’s this close!

Detroit Build 47, Muscle Milk 53

In a tight playoff clash, Muscle Milk's key contributors held their ground while Detroit Build struggled to match the intensity. Dushawn Harsten was a standout for Muscle Milk, dishing out six assists and nailing three three-pointers, elevating his game. Jamaal Willis, not to be outdone, delivered a double-double with 15 points and 12 rebounds, showcasing his all-around skills. On the other side, Robert Gaddy led the Build with a flashy 19 points, while Isaac Winfree dominated the boards with 13 rebounds, proving he's not just there to fill a space. The game saw Edward England stepping up significantly above his usual averages, recording three assists and making two free throws, while Jovaughn Wilson added a solid double-double of his own with 11 points and 11 rebounds. With Muscle Milk's win, the all-time series between these teams is now level at 1-1, adding a bit more spice for their next encounter.

DREAM Mobile 58, Benzinga 34

Heading into next week, DREAM Mobile is riding high after their 24-point postseason victory over Benzinga, pushing their playoff record to a commendable 1-0 and giving them a 2-0 lead in their all-time series against Benzinga. Ryan Zinser led the charge with a stellar performance, logging 20 points, 9 assists, and 8 rebounds, while also sinking three 3-pointers and nailing all three of his free-throw attempts. Not to be outdone, Chris Johnson brought down 11 boards and dished out 3 assists, showcasing his all-around game. For Benzinga, Shaun Jerdel paced the team with 14 points and 8 rebounds, but a lack of scoring support sealed their fate. Those missed chances truly cost them; Matthew Ran’s 10 points and 4 assists, while commendable, were mere drops in the bucket against DREAM Mobile’s relentless offensive surge. With standout performances from Jake Mickley adding 2 steals and 4 assists and Guillermo Machain surpassing his average with 2 assists, Benzinga's roster will need to regroup before facing the next challenge.

Mosley Investments 56, Ball Don't Lie 61

What a nail-biter! Ball Don't Lie edged out Mosley Investments in a thrilling playoff matchup that kept everyone on the edge of their seat. Darrell Jeffreys led the charge for Ball Don't Lie, dropping a personal best of 17 points, along with four steals—but he wasn’t alone in making an impact. Tyrone Jack matched his scoring output, shooting the lights out with five three-pointers while also contributing four steals and five rebounds. And let’s not forget Corry Knight, who added 15 points and grabbed six rebounds, making crucial plays to secure the victory. On the other side, Dejuan Moss put on a show for Mosley Investments, recording a double-double with 15 points and 10 rebounds while also dishing out six assists. The team certainly showcased their talents, with notable performances from both sides — James Griffin and Bryant Mosley added 13 and 11 points, respectively, but ultimately, their efforts weren’t enough to fend off Ball Don't Lie's keen edge. Now, both teams are tied in their all-time series at 1-1, leaving plenty of room for future showdowns!

Come Play Detroit 48, Flirtin' With Disaster 39

In a physical playoff showdown, Come Play Detroit took home the victory against Flirtin' With Disaster with a final score of 48 to 39, pushing their all-time series lead to 2-0. Gary Schmitt lit up the scoreboard with 20 points, but it was MIke Hand who truly shone, contributing significantly with six assists and snagging two steals—both numbers well above his usual output. Steve Jaffe had a night to remember, recording a double-double with personal bests of 13 points and 10 rebounds, proving that he can bring the heat when it matters most. For Flirtin' With Disaster, Jeffrey Weeks was a standout, also posting a double-double with 14 points and 10 boards, but even his strong performance couldn't turn the tide. Dion Thomas dished out three assists, his own personal best, and Justin Weeks stepped up with two steals, showcasing some defensive grit. Ultimately, Come Play Detroit’s teamwork and determination made all the difference in this hard-fought battle.

Goldstein Dental 37, Social Media Store 29

What a thriller it was when Goldstein Dental and Social Media Store clashed in the playoffs, stepping it up during crucial moments of the game. Goldstein Dental jumped out first, led by a hot shooting hand from Bennie Szczepkowski, who notched 20 points, including three three-pointers to really set the tone. Social Media Store attempted to mount a comeback, tied at one point in the second half thanks to Robert Collins’ impressive hustle on the court, where he stole the ball five times and also scored 10 points. But Goldstein Dental regained control and never looked back, sealing the game with a final score of 37-29. Chad Pardo also made his mark with seven rebounds for Goldstein, and props to Sean Carmody from Social Media Store for pulling down a personal-best 12 boards in a valiant effort, even if it wasn’t quite enough to earn a victory. With this win, Goldstein Dental builds on their commanding lead in the all-time series at 2-0, and Social Media Store will have to regroup after this one.
