In an unprecedented paramount of news sources that not one single news sports journalist could have ever imagined, the 8,000 seat capacity Sullivan Arena in Anchorage was soldout a record 4 straight games last week, as the much anticipated conference finals and ensuing championship game paved way for great basketball entertainment. The NABA, or Native Alaskan Basketball Association, is part of a sister-network ANRC (Alaska Network of Regional Companies) founded by 8 regional base board members from both the rural and metro areas of Alaska.
"Basketball is without a doubt rural Alaska's #1 staple, always has been, always will be, and so when you have that element compounded with the fans understanding that their investment into the league goes beyond fun and entertainment, it just makes for an all-around benefit that everyone gets a share in," said co-chairman Cody Pfeifer, who also plays for the NABA representing his home region of the Matsu Valley. The NABA has ample opportunities at revenue and with that comes an intricate revenue-sharing implementation system in place, whereby the league utilizes its funds to ensure that the league operates while providing allocated monies toward positive programs such as domestic violence intervention, drug and alcohol rehabilitation, recidivism, relapse and prevention, early release programs, suicide prevention, and cultural awareness.
