We ran it back and ran it back well at the JC this week! Even amid a hectic test and OSCE week we still pulled well over 20+ folks to the court this Friday. The Johnson Center turned into the kitchen where, may I dare say, everyone was cookin.
Starting things off was Riley Crawford. This man was on a MISSION ladies and gentlemen let me tell you. After starting the season averaging just 0.5 points, 2 rebounds, 1.5 assists per game, and a wimpy 6.32 average Player Performance Rating (PPR) this man said "CRANK IT TO 10". He finished Friday absolutely slinging buckets and finished with an astounding 15.3 PPR easily earning him this week's Most Improved Player award. If he keeps this up, those power rankings may see a switch up soon enough. Riley also held the weekly record for most points in a single contest with 13 this week.
No surprise here, but John Cornelius and Alex Chang continue to score.... and score a lot. The pair has a combined 156 points between them, more than to bottom 20 in the league combined. These two juggernauts went head to head this week both putting up great numbers. John went 11/4/2/2 in the contest for a PPR of 23.0 (third-best performance in two weeks) and Alex went 9/2/1/1 in the same contest for a PPR of 17.0, both leading their respective squads.
Other offensive highlights came from the likes of Alex Janes and *Yaz Alrefai *both putting up double digits games at 10/2/0/3 and 10/3/0/1 respectively.
On the defensive side of the ball, we had quite a showing on this great Friday. The big man Ethan Wells became the new league leader in rebounds pulling down 19 boards over 5 games bringing his total to 44 in 11 games played. He also set the league record this week for boards in one contest with 8. He leads the league by 7 boards to nearest competitor Gunnar Eaton coming in a 37 in 8 games played and leads the top ten by a whopping 24 boards. M1 Cameron Coulter was going crazy with steals averaging a mind-boggling 3 per, including 8 converted points from steals! Watch your balls around this chain with arms.
Yugant Patel will in fact come up clutch on the defensive side of the ball when his team needs it the most. Yugi earned the TOP PLAY OF WEEK 2, running down and saving a go-ahead drive by** Holden Huffman** and crew. 3 blocks, 1 rebound, and a steal within 5 seconds later, John Cornelius had the ball to assist to Gunnar Eaton for the go-ahead jumper. This is the effort that managers will be sure to take notice of. Yugi Stonks going UP!
Speaking of M1s,Carter Smith's dad strength was on full display this week. In just 3 recorded contests Carter put up 20 points, 17 rebounds, 3 assists, and 5 steals. Not only this, his game against John and company set the league record for best performance in a single content to date with a..... hold up...26.5 PPR!!!!! For this reason Carter is your Week 2 player of the week, way to go!
See you this Friday for another good installment, and as a special editor’s note, congrats to Alex Janes and his Fiancé Allie as they get married this Friday. We will all ball in their honor of course.
