Welcome back to another installment of UKCOM MD/NBA.
We started this year's league off with a (insert Mike Breen Voice) BANG with a record 34 attendees to Friday's league. We saw lots of excitement running a total of 19 games (14 recorded) spanning three courts. We look forward to growing those numbers over the course of the next several months leading up to the league's Inaugural Christmas tournament. Seeding and event details to follow in the following months.
On the offensive side of the ball, we had standout performances across the board. Starting things off was #1 Grant "Jockman" Brockman who came out hot firing a league-high 13.3 Points/G in his first 3 showings at PG. Grant also finishes the day seated 1st in PPG with a minimum 3 games played and set the current league record with four three-point shots against a well defended home team.
John Cornelius took a break from his busy M3 schedule to travel from Morehead to drop more buckets on (you guessed it) more heads... Shooting an impressive statline of 10.8 P/ 2.2 R/ 0.5 A / 1.0 in 4 games for the day, as well as garnering the number #2 spot on today's TOP FIVE, it is safe to say the big guard from the Cumberland’s will be looking to return ASAP. Other offensive leaders included Alex "Sniper Gang" Chang with 46 points in just 5 games, as well as a league record 4 assists in one game, "Pick and Roll" Cole Wilson with the performance of the day with a 24.1 PPR against an all center squad, and Cameron "Dime Time" Coulter averaging almost 2 assists per contest and a nasty no look dish to Colin "Send-Ya-Home-Crying" Ryan for the go ahead layup.
On the defensive side of the court, there are a few inevitable. 1) Riley "Takeway TItan" Crawford stealing the ball setting the league record, or 2) one of the league's big men grabbing a board on their way down. Leading the way for the boards was "Machine Gun Belly" Gunnar Eaton himself grabbing a league-leading average of 6.8 boards per game as well as putting up 4.8 p/g to go with it. The other boards were heftily grabbed by the league's other big men Trevor "North" South, Ethan "Mountain Man" Wells, or Wyatt " InYaMouth" Southall.
Ushering in the new generation of UKCOM MD/NBA, was M1 Amin "Swat Your Sh1T" Katanbaf with an impressive 4 blocks in his first appearance. Watch your shot around this young fella! Another M1 recognition goes to Ronak "Attack" Patel posting an amazing 67.5 PPR to go with his 5.8 P / 4.8 R / 0.6 A / 0.4S staline for the league.
