Expectations are sky-high for the Eagles star point guard.

Conor McCaffrey was phenomenal as an undersized 7th grader, and his 8th grade season should be that much better. He has been named on the preseason All-Conference team and was ranked as the 17th-best player in the state entering the season. It’s no exaggeration to call him a potential All-State calibar player.

Here’s the crazy part about Conor's success: he’s just barely scratched the surface of what he can do. He was just over 5'3 inches in 2018 and was averging 17 points per game and 10 assists, feeding the ball to Jace Easley and Wes Mullen, while knocking down clutch 3's on kickouts. But now McCaffrey has grown to 5'8, and his potential is off the charts.

McCaffrey earned a lot of recognition last season, and rightfully so, but perhaps the most impressive part of his success was who it came against. Our Savior's played against quality teams of East St. Louis Lincoln, New Berlin and Auburn, and McCaffrey held his own and shined the brightest in most of those games.

Watch out for McCaffrey to turn the corner scoring the ball, if his playmaking skills can stay at the elite level they are, while also providing scoring help to Jace Easley, the Eagles will be a force to be reckoned with in the State.
