Virginia Beach - Crowds of hyperactive and hysterical fans packed the sidewalks the anticipation of everyone ready to go back outside! COVID-19 has taken away a lot of our freedom, but now that our very own govevenor has removed restrictions. The restaureant, arenas and so many venus are now opening back up and people are are going crazy assemblage of folding chairs, sleeping bags and oversized mugs full of hydrating beverages, my expectation was wrong!
"We are here to watch the WLC B-ball Season EIGHT Draft and get our season tickets as soon as the schedule comes out," explained Lumpy Westington, a self-described "hoops junkie" from Chevy Chase, Maryland. Lumpy, age 61, vacationing with his 11-year-old grandson Wilbur, seemed almost as excited as the little tyke. Wilbur, sporting a bootlegged Justin Sivells jersey, told anyone who would listen that "there's a lot of punks Tweeting that Pochekailo and Posley like to think they are deep shooters, but nobody is as smooth as Sivells." Lumpy Westington is very excited this season, finding out that Justin Sivells, Ben Pochekailo and Posley are joining forces for the first time. Sounds like Justin Sivells had to make an important decision leaving Earl the Pearl behind. Posley offered a crazy deal that Sivells couldn't refiuse, we are talking 1 year $84 million dollars on the table. Clutch Sports representative Rich Paul said its a great deal for Sivells, he is in control of his future no more long term contracts. Some say theres a lot of pressure for Posley this season, can his team get it done?
Lumpy also Stated "We can't wait for opening night, obviously, like all these people." He waved his hand at the tens of people along the sidewalk approaching the GN Baptist Arena.
Ah yes, Opening night. That magic time when everyone thinks their team is the best. Before hearts are broken and ankles are twisted and lungs are heaving (you know who you are). The WLC Basketball Season Eight Opening night is April 6.
Game 1 Team Undefetaed takes on Team Mamba Mentality - MM at home.
Team Undefeatd Beat Team Mamba Mentality 51 to 30
This game was pretty interesting!!!!!!!
Team Undefeated came out with the fire power that we were all expecting! You could tell some of the players were trying to shake off the rust/nerves from it being opening night! Ben P, Posley and Sivells came out with a stamtent letting everyone know its going to be pretty tough to beat the trio, and along with Aaron Webb who was top three in MVP voting last season also made sure that no one forgot who he was. Team Undefeated looked pretty good and even their bench looks promising, only thing to worry about is the lack of height the squad has to offer. Team Mamba Mentality came out swinging as well, but it wasn't enought to top Team Undefeated. First Half Damien Butler sized up Sivells a few times with some great turn around jumpers, but it wasnt enough to top Team Undefeated.Second Half Team Undefeated took off to go up 15 points and ended beating Team Mamba Mentaity by 20 points. Many want to know what happened to Omar Jackson? Several tweets have been rumored that Omar was a no show, only scoring 11 points? Last year Jackson averagd 15.7 ppg, was it potential defesive player of the year Ben Pochekailo that kept jackson under 12? I believe Team Mamba Mentaility will be fine, next game I expect great things from Butler and Jackson, as they take on Team -Oh you thought.
Game 2 Oh You Though takes on Tray Ballers at home Game of the Week!!!
Oh You Thought Beat Tray Ballers 53 to 50
A very Interesting match up we have, making it the game of the week! Team Oh You Thought lead by Capatin Greg Bell and former companion Corey Thomas were in a for a special treat. Seemed like this game was about making a statment and letting the league know that Team Oh You Thoguht doesnt need a Star player. I really want to say that this team has a bunch of role players who kows there job, but one did stick out! Kalvin James a new face we have never seen before and I believe he fits in pretty good with Team Oh You Thought. Honestly I would of never thought Greg Bell would draft this type of player. Very Shocking!!! Is this the player that the dynamic Duo Thomas and Bell have been looking for? I have heard plenty of times Bell and Sivells have ran into each other before, with bell saying " I only want to play against you". To be honest from this game it seems like the three held it down pretty well and I would love to see the trio do more damage in the league. But is it enough to get Greg Bell and Corey Thomas a chance to go to the finals this year, for the first time?
Now lets not forget Tray Ballers put up a good fight! I like how this team came out with intensity and really showed us the true meaning of being an underdog! Now sad to say they just didnt have aenough answers for Kalvin James, Kalvin turned the heat on in the second half when the team needed him the most. Kalvin finshed with 11 and Bell with 14 helped seal the deal within the last two minutes of the game. Tray ballers had a lot of mistakes that cost them the game, Tray ballers couldnt grab the necessary rebounds and couldnt score the ball when needed to. I do like etheridgh and witherspoon, they seem like they have enough to get things going for Tray Ballers. Look for Tray ballers to bouce back but I just dont see them bouncing back in week 2 against potential League MVP Justin Sivells, Posley, Webb and defensive mindset Pochekailo.
