The Survival of the Fittest Fall Basketball League is place where the serious basketball fan or player gets to keep their "competitive fire burning". This league promotes fellowship, networking and camaraderie. The games will take place on Monday Night's In Silver Spring. So if you are ever in Silver Spring and want to see some competitive basketball and hangout with some great people! The Survival of the Fittest League is the place to be!

RULES AND REGULATIONS
FALL, 2016
The Nations Capital Summer Pro-Am will be played, in Silver Spring, Maryland. ... The rules of the League will be played according to the NCAA to include the following points:
Games will begin on the schedule start time; Teams are asked to report twenty minutes prior to tip-off to check in, with event staff.
o Teams will be permitted a five-minute grace period only if a team is missing players only for the first game of the day!
o Teams must field a minimum of four ( 4) players to begin the game
o If a team does not have four players ready to play , the first period will begin
While the clock is running, one (1) point will be added, per minute elapsed, to the team’s score who has dressed five (5) players and is ready to play
If the first period expires without a team ready to play, that team will forfeit the game; the score will be 10-0 for the winning team
There will be a forfeit fee charged to the team who lost via forfeit in the amount of $50
• Forfeit fee must be paid prior to the team’s next scheduled game
• Uniforms
o Players will be required to wear the appropriate league uniform
Teams must wear the identical uniforms (tops )
Each team should have a light and dark set of tops (or reversible)
If any player is not wearing the identical uniform of his respective team, that player will be penalized with one (1) technical foul (not to count towards ejection) per player
Player jersey’s must be tucked into the shorts at all times
• Choice of baskets
o The visiting team (the team listed first in the schedule), will have its choice of baskets
This choice must be made immediately upon stepping onto the floor during the warm-up period
o During the jump ball to begin the game, jumpers will face in the direction of the baskets where their respective teams warmed-up
o Team will change direction to begin the 2nd half
• Game Clock
o Running Time , Except the last 2 minutes of the 4th quarter
Four Eight-minute periods

Overtime
o Two (2) minute overtime period(s) Clock stops during last minute.
• Time-outs
o Two (2) full time-outs (60 seconds in length)
o One (1) twenty second time-out (use or lose) if not taken in first half!
o One (1) full timeout will be given to each team if a game goes into overtime.
o TIME-OUTS DO NOT CARRY-OVER INTO O.T.!
• Fouls
o Players can accumulate five(5) personal fouls
• A player will be disqualified on his 5th personal foul
• If a team has less than five (5) players when a player is disqualified, that player may remain in the game with an additional penalty of one (1) technical foul (not to count towards player ejection)
• For each and every subsequent personal foul (including offensive), said player will have an additional penalty of one (1) technical foul
o Players can accumulate a maximum of two (2) unsportsmanlike technical fouls
• A player will be fined $35for each unsportsmanlike technical foul received
• Said fine must be paid prior to be beginning of the next period or that player will not be permitted to play
• A player will be ejected after receiving two (2) unsportsmanlike technical fouls in the same game
• A player will be fined $60 for being ejected from a game
• The ejection fine will be in addition to any other fine received during the game
• Said fine must be paid prior to the beginning of the next scheduled game
o Punching / Fighting
• A player will be ejected and suspended a minimum of two (2) games for throwing a punch (whether or not it connects) and fined $60
• A player will be ejected for fighting and subject to further fines and penalties as described above
• Any player who leaves the confines of the bench during a fight and participates in the fight will be ejected and subject to further fines and penalties as above
• Said fine(s) must be paid prior to the next scheduled game
• At the sole option of the League, with input from the Commissioner of Officials and coaches of the respective teams, a player could be subject to longer suspensions and/or ejection from the League
• During fights, Coaches will be permitted onto the court as ‘peacemakers’
o Flagrant
• A flagrant foul will be determined using W-I-F
• W: wind-up
• I: impact
• F: follow through
• A flagrant foul will be called if the contact is unnecessary and any of the elements described above are present
• The penalty for a flagrant foul is two (2) free throws to the offended team with the possession of the ball
• The player whistled for a flagrant foul may be ejected, at the discretion of the officials
• Any ejected player will be subject to fines and penalties as described above
• If the contact is unnecessary and excessive, a flagrant foul, penalty 2 will be called
• The charged player will be ejected
• A player will be ejected after receiving his 2nd flagrant foul of the game and fined $90
o Team Fouls
• A team will be in the ‘penalty’ upon receiving its seventh (7th) team foul in each half
• The penalty is one and one free throws to the offended team
• A team will also be in the double bonus ( 2 SHOTS) upon receiving its second (10TH) team foul in each period

• TEAM FOULS DO CARRY OVER DURING THE SECOND HALF INTO ANY OVERTIME PERIOD
