BLOOMINGTON, IL -- In a game that came down to the wire at the Illinois Wesleyan Shootout, Jeremiah Perkins delivered in the clutch for O.S. Springfield, propelling the Eagles into the Tournament Quarterfinals with a last-second sequence of heroics. With 3.3 seconds left, Perkins attacked the rim, absorbed contact, and calmly sank two pressure-packed free throws to give O.S. the lead. On the ensuing possession, he rose up for a game-saving block, rejecting Williamsville’s last-ditch attempt and securing the 65-63 victory.

Perkins has emerged as a difference-maker for O.S. Springfield this season, and his performance in this game was a testament to his growth and perseverance.

-- The big man dominated the paint, finishing with a career-high 15 rebounds, while scoring 14 points and swatting four shots.

-- He was also efficient offensively, shooting 6-of-10 from the field and showing a newfound confidence in finishing around the rim.

-- His defensive presence changed the game, altering shots in the lane and providing a much-needed interior force for the Eagles.

O.S. Head Coach Phillip Heppe couldn’t hold back his pride when discussing Perkins’ development.

"The development and maturity that Jeremiah has shown this year leaves a huge smile on my face," Heppe said. "Last season, he had a hard time fitting into our rotation because his post skills were lacking. But he put in a lot of work in the summer, and now he’s one of the top 15 players in our conference."

Perkins’ growth into a two-way force in the frontcourt is a major boost for a team that has relied heavily on its star backcourt duo of Jace Easley and Conor McCaffrey.

With Logan Allen settling into the starting lineup and Jeremiah Perkins stepping up, O.S. Springfield is starting to take shape as a complete team—just in time for the most critical stretch of the season.

-- Easley and McCaffrey have shouldered much of the load, but Perkins’ emergence means opponents can no longer key in solely on the Eagles’ guards.

-- Allen’s presence as a glue guy has also helped balance the rotation, providing defense, rebounding, and playmaking.

-- With over 45 days left in the season, the Eagles are trending in the right direction and could be a dangerous team come tournament time.

Team captain Jace Easley echoed this sentiment, issuing a warning to future opponents.

"We are far from finished. We've started to figure this thing out, and like I said earlier—when we figure this thing out, it's going to be scary."

With a Quarterfinal berth secured, O.S. Springfield has momentum on its side and will look to build on this statement victory.

-- Jeremiah Perkins was the hero, scoring 14 points, grabbing 15 rebounds, and blocking the game-winning shot.

-- Coach Heppe praised Perkins' work ethic, saying he has transformed into one of the conference’s top players.

-- Logan Allen's impact in the starting lineup has been a stabilizing force, allowing the team to develop a more balanced attack.

-- Jace Easley believes O.S. Springfield is close to reaching its full potential, and if that happens, the Eagles will be a serious threat in the postseason.

With their Quarterfinal matchup ahead, O.S. Springfield’s stock is rising—and their confidence is growing.
