On a beautiful Saturday afternoon in the heart of Cornwall, the 3rd season of the PEI Vintage Basketball Association kept on rolling. In an absolute shootout, Jesse's Jackhammers vanquished Bourque's Bears, 90-75. After that, Jeff's Jokers put on a defensive clinic against Vidito's Vultures, beating them 72-58.

The Jackhammers had a very balanced scoring effort. Missing a few players (and pets), five players scored in double digits. Some bonkers stats lines were put up by them, inclding Jesse Fleming with 15 points and a career-high 8 assists, Josh McKnight with 15 and 14 rebounds and Matt Connolly with 16 points, 16 boards and 4 assists. Yayha Sefau went "it became personal for me" and dropped 30 points with six 3PM.

For the Bears, they clawed and scrapped but it simply wasn't enough. There were some bright spots, however: Serhi, Sokolenko put up 16 points to continue his sneaky campaign for Mr. Buckets. Thomas Harper had his best game of the season, scoring 11 point and showing off a great hair/facial hair/headband combo (thank god there were no moms there, otherwise we'd need not only a broom, but a mop too).

Speaking of facial hair, Parker Roche is fulling leaning into the "Mountain Man" nickname, sporting an excellent beard. He also had a monster game, scoring 24 points and an hauling in 22 rebounds, before heading off to go chop wood or something, I assume. Captain Bourque shook off his Dooly's hangover, hitting several 3's and scoring 19 points. He then promptly hopped in the Dooly's lineup again, sources say.

In the second game, the Jokers were once again without guard Ben Plourde, although many would call it a blessing in disguise. Without Benny the Ball-hog, they had five players in double digits, lead by John Alex "Handsome Guy" Vos with 20. The Smartest Man in the League, Jeremy Thompson, had another well-rounded effort, scoring 12 points, grabbing 12 boards and dishing out 5 assists.

For the Vultures, they were shorthanded as they wait for a couple of players to return from injury. It didn't stop them from giving it their all, especially Yousef Sefau who had his best game of the season as well, finishing with 25 points, 14 rebounds and 4 assists. Ian "The Bachelor in Paradise" Kerr continued his excellent return to APM, scoring 17 points. Safe to say the kid is enjoying the single life.

A new tradition for PVBA starts this week as well: the Tacko Fall Player of the Week award, sponsored by Taco Boyz. This award is given out to someone who just went above and beyoond in a particular week. Not just on the court, but off as well, being a good guy and having fun (like Tacko)

This week's award goes to Alex "Chino" Frangos. Chino scored 4 points and collected 4 rebounds in the Jokers' win, and was a great teammate all game, giggling with glee the whole time. Off the court, he helped out sweeping the floor, opening the door and always left everyone wanting more (bars.). He is also a 2-time winner of the "4th Line Grinder" award, so let's hope his head doesn't get too big (who knows what he'll send to the groupchat then). Congrats, Chino!

With only two games left in the regular season, teams are competing for playoff seeding. Next week, the Jokers will take on the Jackhammers at 5:30 on** Friday **and the Vultures will go to war with the Bears at 6:30.

P.S. Sources are saying the Vultures are looking for a shakeup in their roster. Frustrated with the mounting losses, and feeling tremendous pressure from his dad, captain Vidito has been eyeing several players around the league. With two weeks before the trade deadline, I wouldn't put it past him to make some crazy deals. Stay tuned!
