game 1
Team Joe Vs Team Monawar) (Winner: Team Monawar)
This game pitted 2 of the leading MVP candidates against one another in Monawar and Joe. Monawar continued to play team ball, constantly sharing the ball and trusting his teammates. Monawar even checked himself out of the game several times showing he trusts his teammates without him on the court. Monawar continues to show his development as a leader and captain with these types of actions.
After starting the season hot, team Joe has cooled off a little. After not having their full team for several weeks, they looked slightly rusty on the floor with both offensive and defensive rotations.
Monawar and Tmac both led their teams with 15 pts. Tmac continues to show an elite level style of play off the ball. For team Joe, Joe led his team with 20 pts for the game and fujo followed with 17.
Moving Forward:
Monawar seems content on the continuing development of his teammates and its working. I will not be surprised if this team gets even better.
For team Joe, the offense seems to involve to much iso play and specific roles probably need to be carved out for players on the team to avoid confusion.
Game 2
Team Kamal vs Team Bosh ( Winner Team Bosh)
This game was a close game throughout with the lead changing several times before Team bosh grabbed it again late to hold on for the victory.
Bilal Eljahmi continued to impress solidifying himself as the steal of the draft hitting tough shot after tough shot. However, he did not get much help. Ray who hit big dagger threes helped keep his team in the game. Unc Ed also came in and provided a much needed boost to his team scoring critical baskets while grabbing even more critical rebounds in the game.
Game 3: Team Hussein vs Team Manea (Winner Team Hussein)
Team Hussein, a team that was ignored by many (not me), continues to impress. Week after week, they are looking more and more like one of the favorites. Many will argue, the favorites to win it all. This team is having so much fun, that Co-Captain Mo Abdrabboh has been very active in the league chat which is a first. This has many questioning, was he held back in previous seasons by someone?
Team Hussein grabbed control of this game early and did almost anything they wanted to their opponents who were simply out matched. Hussein, who constantly guards the other teams top player, all while leading his team in scoring, showed why he is in fact one of the leading MVP candidates. The one -two punch of him and Mo has proven to be overwhelming for many teams.
Hussein, Mo, and Sami all scored over 20 pts. All while each shooting well over 50%. Shafiq chipped in with 10 pts while shooing 100% fg percentage for the night as he continues to play very solidly for his team.
Team Manea who struggled defensively, had a solid offensive night. They were led by Manea and Nader who scored 20 and 23 pts for the night.
Moving Forward:
Team Hussein team continues to play efficiently and disciplined as the ball is moving and there is little tolerance for bad shots. The expectation is the continued high level of play for this team.
For team Manea, it’s the same issue they have been running into all season. They are playing a zone defense to try and help overcome their lack of size on the team. However, this has not been enough to stop teams and it may be wise to consider some trades.
Game 4: Team Larry vs Team Mike (Winner: Team Mike)
Mike Williams!! Mike who shot 9 of 14 from the 3 pt line showed he's a walking bucket in this league. Dropping 37 pts and leading his team to a victory all while having a team season record in scoring with 90 pts.
This team has benefited greatly from the addition of Hamadah who is constantly causing havoc against defenses and is a mis-match no matter who guards him, as he continuously attracts double teams. I had called for them to not get hamadah, but my warnings went ignored and now we are seeing the results of that decision as this team boasts a very, very formidable starting line up. Plain and simple, you don’t take one of the best offensive talents to ever come out of the south end (Hamadah) and put him on a team that already has Mike Williams and Abdullah Chabaan. That’s like adding Michael Jordan to a team with Kobe Bryant and Larry Bird.
Team Larry who was coming off a victory last week, was able to score 64 with Larry dropping 31 pts. However, team Mike’s offense was simply too much.
Please note, these rankings are my personal opinion and not just based on what the stat chart shows. I tried to consider situations such as playing time, positions played on the court, and opportunities. Thanks.
