Bic Matic is averaging 24.7 PPG on 90% FT shooting, 63% from 3 and an impressive 52% FG%. So why then are people asking whats wrong with Bic, despite the fact that his stats are so unbelievable. Its simple, Bic has for the longest time been considered MR. Ungaurdable, however looking at his last two games he has been jept to 21 points and 22 points on less than 50% shooting by two relatively bad defenses. So why is Mr. Ungaurdable suddenly being guarded well? Its simple really, they've exploited Bic's two weaknesses.
1. Bic has a less then mediocre mid range shot: Bic may be the best 3pt shooter in the league, he may be the best dunker in the league, he may be one of the finishers but the kid has no J. His mid range jimmy is pretty bad, he has gone 2/8 on mid range shots his last two games as oppose to the 12/19 he is from the rest of the field. The teams have forced him inside by making it the obvious choice and leading him on and Bic's desire to improve his J has made it easier for the teams as he is taking the shots they want him to now. Bic has claimed he is working to improve his J, but that may not be possibly without sacrificing his full court shots. The problem lies with his shooting form, his shooting form uses his vertical and strength to their peak, so his shots are always long and strong, and impossible to guard. However when you have this kind of shot from a close range it doesn't work.
- Bic is a team player: Now your probably thinking, how is this a weakness? Bic gives up the ball an awful lot, he plays to improve his teammates and thus improving the team, this has worked for Bic all his career. In his first years of high school he was with Alex and Alex Stars had his best years of his high school career, even matching Bic in the 3 point contest until Bic won in a tie brake. He improved Chao's career till the point that Chao is now one of the scariest people in the league, despite the fact that Chao was formerly thought to be the more forgettable of the Ching-Chao duo. There are others he has done this for, the only problem is that now he is with people who are mostly playing to their potential. His team is not that good, and sure Brandon Jones skill has improved but the rest of the team isnt at a point in their career were they are capable of significant improvement. So in the end out of respect and duety to his team Bic ends up taking less shots than he should and passing off to people worse than him, meaning the defense just has to open up one of his teammates and he will give up the ball.
Bottom line is Bic hasn't gotten any worse, He just needs to take control of his franchise and realize that it is HIS franchise not Nagamos or Son-Reeki or any of the rest. He needs to not fall into obvious defensive traps. Hus stats are still crazy and he is still having an amazing season, but to keep it going he needs to focus up and regain is high school/college confidence and arrogance.
