Holy-Field Summer League

The Holyoke Summer League is entering its 15th season; 4th under the leadership of Omar Almodovar and Harry Melendez. In our first three years, we have been able to help revitalize the league’s reputation by providing a positive and welcoming environment for the citizens of Holyoke and surrounding western Massachusetts towns/cities. Families and their children have been able to attend our regular season games, all star event/games and enjoy other free entertainment (i.e. bouncy houses, face painting, raffles, and live music). This season, we have collaborated with Springfield native, Shalka Rivera, to take the league to another level. The Holyoke-Springfield Summer League is seeking to bridge the gap between Holyoke and the Birthplace of Basketball by hosting games in both cities. We have collaborated with the South End Community Center to host games at their new state of the art facility and will continue to host games outdoors in Holyoke as well. With these collaborations, we look to continue to foster the same sense of community, encourage civic participation and work with community members/organizations to organize a competitive men’s basketball league that emphasizes sportsmanship and good citizenship.
