The Hoop Life Basketball League, or HLBL, is a members only basketball league comprised of 4 teams.

When was the HLBL established?

The HLBL was founded in Mesquite in 2021 by commissioner/player Brian Anderson

How many games are there in an HLBL season?

There are 9 games in the regular season.

How many teams make the Playoffs?

All four teams reach the postseason, with the No. 1 seed facing No. 4 in the first round, No. 2 vs. No. 3. Playoffs are a Double-elimination bracket
In this type of competition, teams need to lose twice before they are eliminated. The bracket consists of two brackets: a winners (W) bracket and a losers (L) bracket. This means there are two brackets to track to determine the eventual winner of the final round.

When is the Draft?

The HLBL Draft is scheduled for 9.15.25

How does the Draft order and Draft Lottery work?

Each season, a lottery – comprised of ping-pong balls drawn randomly in an audited event – decides the fate of all 4 teams. The teams with the fewest wins have the greatest chance at winning the Lottery. The Lotto balls are drawn, deciding the first, second, third and fourth picks. Teams may move up and down in the order with trades.

How many players are on a HLBL roster?

Each HLBL team will have 6 players

How long are the games?

Games are 12 minutes and Overtime will be a shootout. Each side will take turns shooting the ball from the Free Throw line, The home team shoot first. The team that scores first wins. The shootout ends

How long is the shot clock?

The shot clock is 24 seconds.
