Game 1: Team Nebil Vs Team Kal (winner team Nebil)
This game was a fought hard game for most of the night. The game stayed close well into the 2nd half, and then Team Nebil turned it on. Team captain Nebil made it a goal to facilitate and get his top 2 players going and was very successful in doing this. Maher, a consistent first rounder who many expected to rise to the occasion proved that he is indeed an elite player in this league constantly scoring in the post and the outside. He was successful at showing he’s the only big man who can get it done in the post and step back well beyond the 3. He finished the game with 15 points and 14 rebounds. Muad who consistently showed off his dribbling skills and ability to get to the rim finished the game with 12 points and 8 rebounds along with 4 assists while playing good defense. If this is the new normal for team Nabil, they look like an elite team.
Khalid Eljahmi led his team with 15 points and continued to play his expected elite defense.
Game 2: Team Suffi vs Team Fujo (Winner Team Suffi)
Team Fujo was without a full roster and thus had to forfeit the game and accept substitute players for this scrimmage. However, it was the most exciting game of the night as it ended in epic fashion with All Star Usaf Baidani hitting a game winning put back at the buzzer. Team Captain Mo Suffi decided to sit this one out and his 5 players played the full 44 minutes in his stead. They moved the ball efficiently and played hard the full game as Team Suffi continues to impress by racking up victory. This team is to be taken seriously and is considered one of the top teams in the league and no longer flying under the radar. There aren’t many teams that will play harder than them as they continue to provide the effort and smart player week in and week out.
Team Fujo continued playing hard. The league got to witness what may be the most devastating 1-2 punch in the history of the league as Farris and Kal Eljahmi teamed up in this one. Regular plays turned into half court fast breaks that had Farris throwing passes that reminded us of Cunningham throwing to Randy moss and Kal consistently caught the pass and finished. I don’t know if there has been a better duo in this league to date but it sure was a pleasure for the league to watch these 2 top ranked players play together.
Game 3 Team Billy and Team Mutee (Winner team Mutee)
This game was a defensive game that had plenty of hard play and bad shooting. Team Mutee took home the victory winning 34-29. Team Mutee took a solid lead late in the 1st half with team Billy Buckets cutting the lead to 3 halfway in the 2nd half. However, team Mutee was able to execute and keep the lead with smart play late in the game. Tmac continues to impress with his 3rd impressive game in a row and now looks like a steal for team Mutee. He finished with 10 pts on only 8 shots. Team captain Team Mutee finished the game with 13 pts. Billy Buckets finished the game with 15 pts and 10 rebounds in a losing effort.
Game 4 Team Kamal and Team Dave (winner team Kamal)
Team Kamal who were sitting at 2-0 showed the league why they are considered the top team in the league. Having arguably the most difficult schedule to start the season, they came out and made a statement loud and clear. At one point in the game, they had a 25 pt lead. A continuous display of smart basketball and effective ball movement, they were constantly able to exploit mismatches. This team has 2 Dr’s playing for it and the team put on a clinic for the league to see. Khalid Abdullah went to work in the post constantly punishing defenders with a spin move like Kevin McHale finishing the game with 13 pts. Fadi Nagi reminded the league that his 3 pt shot ranks near the top of the league as he hit 4 three-point shots in epic fashion. Kamal continues to show there are few in the league that can slow him down as he finished the night with 19 pts on only 15 shots. This team is considered the best team currently until someone proves otherwise as they have proved it every week up to this point in convincing fashion.
Team Dave was led by Ali T who finished the game with 14 pts. Smiley also had a good game finishing the game with 13 pts. However, team captain Dave Farver only got 7 shots after having an excellent game the week before. This was surprising as the expectation would be that he would have maybe twice as many shot attempts. It was a good effort by Team Dave as they look forward to their next game.
