Congratulations to the Mountain Mustangs on winning the first Buckeye Bowl with an exciting 4-3 win over the Springfield Sabres.

The Sabres came into the game undefeated in round robin play and having recently secured the WFP Division championsip in the WHSHL. They built a 2-0 lead deep into the second period with goals from Liam Johnston and Mikey Jette.

The Mustangs erased the lead with two goals, just 90 seconds apart, late in the second frame. Both were scored by tournament MVP Joel Vigier.

They picked up where they left off just 42 seconds into the third period when Cedrik Robidoux put the Mustangs ahead 3-2. He would add a second goal with 3:06 left to expand the lead to two. The Sabres did not go away however, and Connor Toth notched a PP marker with 1:45 left. With the net empty, the Sabres could not find the equalizer.

Earlier in the day, the host Miles Mac Buckeyes secured the bronze trophy with a tight 3-2 win over the Kelvin Clippers. Mason Dubberley completed the natural hat trick with just under two minutes to play to secure the win.

Thank you to the coaches, players, and parents of our participating teams. Special thanks to the Buckeye parent volunteers and coaches for a successful tournament.
