The Division Breakdown

SPURS
Record: 6-1
Notable Wins: Magic, Rockets
Notable Loss: Knicks
Remaining SOS: .476 (Heat, Thunder, Raptors)
Playoffs: Clinched

The Spurs have been the best expansion team this season by far. Positng a 6-1 record going into the 4th of July midseason break, they look like a real wagon. Despite still not having proper jerseys, their play has been spectatular up to this point of the season. Led by MVP Candidate and ROTY Candidate Sean Weisansal, the Spurs team have put up spectatular numbers. They now are record holders for most points ever in a JDL/AllPlay sanctioned game (109). They also are the only team in the league with a triple digit win margin (+100). GM Ben Bill has been absent in his GM role over the past few weeks due to personal reasons but the veteran leadership of Weisansal has been more than enough for the role. Veteran league players Nick Reeb and Xross Edwards have added 22ppg for the team while being impactul within their respective roles. Rookies Jaylin Rose, Le'Sean Braxton, Danny Carrig, and player rep Mike Nolan, have all contrubited as well throughout the season on both ends of the floor. Mike Nolan actually has the basket for the record off the offensive rebound. Not a bad way to break a record. This team is rounded out with the Boz man himself, Ben Osborne, playing in his sophomore season. All that is left for the Spurs is a matchup for the 1 seed for the playoffs which comes Week 9 against the Thunder.

MAGIC
Record: 5-2
Notable Wins: Knicks
Notable Loses: Rockets, Spurs
Remaining SOS: .667 (Thunder, Pistons, Heat)
Playoffs: Clinched

The Magic have shocked many this summer by locking in on the defensive end. Currently, the team has given up the second least amount of points on the season (344 /49/1ppg). The anchor on defense is the big man himself, Tyree Coble. GM Pat Hart's lottery pick has been a problem for most this season. He paired Coble up with keeper's Admir Merzihic and multi time all defensive team member, Luke Ingrando. Hart wasted no time in the draft either knowing exactly what kind of team he wanted to assemble. He secured the Intercontinential Champ, Brett Hall, who by the way is having a stellar season on the defensive end for the Magic. Hart also liked what he saw at the rookie combine out of Danny Emma, who has the longest made shot in league history and is also averaging double figures for the team. The Businessman Pete Morgante is a Magic team member now after taking time off for personal/family related reasoning, and lets not forget about the energy and attitude Carson Dayka brings to this Magic team. This Magic team will not win in pretty fashion, they will punch you in the nose and take everything you got. The Magic will have their hands full with their last 3 games, a true test before the playoffs.

KNICKS
Record: 5-2
Notable Wins: Spurs, Rockets, Kings
Notable Loses: Magic, Pistons
Remaining SOS: .476 (Lakers, Raptors, Thunder)
Playoffs: Clnched

Any team with this many rookies is a tough read when it comes to the preseason polls. Rookie GM Richie Sotero only drafted one veteran player and that was Derek Pfohl. He also decided to trade away both his keeper picks essentially putting all his eggs in a basket at the draft. With the number 4 pick in thr 2025 AllPlay Athletics Summer Pro-Am, the AllPlay Knicks selected, Kalon Kimble and Kimble did not disappoint in his debut. He went for 42 points, 9 rebounds, and 5 steals. The best rookie debut performance the league has ever seen. In the second round, Dev Redden, Meech Reed, and JeRu Molson became Knicks. It was at this point everyone caught on to what Richie was doing. He was getting the band back together. Unfortunately, JeRu had a knee injury limiting his time in game 1 and ultimately resulting in him no longer playing this season. 2 time Winter player Colin Hart stepped it up in Molson's absence playing smart and fundamental ball for the Knicks. Pfohl has added perimeter scoring for the Knicks this season to aide in their 5 wins so far. So now with the Knicks down a pick snd their last pick never showing up, only one man could save them. IT'S NICC GARNER JOHNSON FROM THE TOP ROPES! NGJ was scooped off the waiver wire for the Knicks midseason and ever since the Knicks have looked formidable. They haded the Spurs their first loss of the season and have also secured a playoff spot in their first season as a franchise. A tough finish to the season for the Knicks features the Lakers and Thunder before post season play.

ROCKETS
Record: 3-4
Notable Wins: Magic
Notable Loses: Spurs, Knicks, Thunder, Bobcats
Remaining SOS: .476 (Bulls, Lakers, Pistons)

GM Dan Hiam got his wish in the offseason. That wish was to be carried by little brother and 2 time JDL Champ, Alex Hiam. We put that wish to work Week 1 against the Thundder in what was one of the better games of the whole season. Dan and Alex teaming up with keepers and former number 1 overall picks Jay Bergmann and the Big Cat Derek Dorr was the recipe for success. Unfortunately, the Alex Hiam pickup cost Dan everything (Thanos voice). No first or second round pick the Rockets were all-in on winning this season. They had a top 3 pre-season ranking and slowly watched it fall. There has been some signs of hope. Trenton Domanowski-Ellis has shown sparks on offense and has tremendous passion, they traded Big Zah, Zahmere Simmons and brought in 2024 Rocket Nick Tumpaloff. The Rockets have also gotten good minutes out of Louis Fiorello this summer. In an unfortunate series of events, the Rockets have faced tragedy. This team hit a big time injury bug. It started with a Jay Bergmann hamstring injury, sidelining him for multiple weeks, a broken Alex Hiam nose, a stitch requiring wound on TDE's eye, and the injury of them all, a week after the greatest shot of the season, the hype man Damani Washington went down with what rumors are saying a blown achilles. Through all the adversity this team has faced, they have shown up each week ready to battle and they have yet to show us why they don't belong.

SIXERS
Record: 2-5
Notable Wins: Lakers, Nets
Notable Loses: Rockets, Magic, Knicks
Remaining SOS: .286 (Raptors, Heat, Bulls)

What seemed like a promising start to the season has ever so quickly turned sour for GM Gavin Mages and his Sixer team. A Week 1 win against the Lakers had the Sixers feeling high and mighty. Then they lost, and lost, and lost, and lost. GM GM needed to make a change. He sent keeper Brian Woods to the Bucks and brought in 2024 MIP Gavin Borrello. The Sixers aren't necessarily bad. They had leads in most of their games at one point or another. They just struggle down the stretch which leads to turnovers, missed opportunities, and big loses. No loss bigger in league history than the Week 7 loss to the Sonics. It was the most lopsided loss in any JDL/AllPlay sanctioned game. There are some positives. The Laker win in Week 1 was big for conference wins, and their win against the Nets should be good enough to hold a tie breaker spot for play-in consideration. They'll need first round pick Chase Kline to continue hitting the 3 ball like he has this season. Both Jake Ritts and John Borton will have to contonue playing tough inside the paint securing rebounds and second chance possessions for the team. Veteran Levi Taberski has still yet to show what he's truly capable of and Tyler Depreta needs to get back on track offensively. Rookie Dax Bengert has some nice touch while finishing and he'll also look to help this team secure a play-in spot come August.

NETS
Record: 1-6
Notable Wins:
Notable Loses: Sixers, Heat, Knicks
Remaining SOS: .476 (Pistons, Bulls, Lakers)

TANK FOR SISCHO
This Nets team is easily one of the worst 3 time League Champion and 1 time GMOTY BG has assembled. He started by moving Al Hiam in the offseason for a plethora of picks. Then he traded one of his first round picks for then Sonics keeper, Conor Foley. Since the draft, BG has traded Kavon Rogers (1st rd pick), Conor Foley and Nick Reeb (keeper picks), Artis Green, and I'm sure more names I can't remember because this team is completely different from what it started with. The big move was the leagues first ever 3 team trade which resulted in losing Conor Foley but gaining the leagues second leading scorer from the Raptors, Noah Grabar. Since the move, the Nets are 1-0. Great! Issue here is they best a cross conference opponent. They will most likely need to win out in order to maybe sniff the play-in game. With the Roberts brothers, Special Agent Chris Bourne, Noah "30 on 30" Grabar, Cowboy John Vallone, Cam Danner, and Daylon Krencik will have to help player rep Ethan Wells get back into the playoffs, where anything is possible.
