What is the League?

Big Guys Basketball League ('BGBL') is an adult basketball league created with the purpose of simulating a meaningful NBA-like experience for its players. The league currently consists of approximately 7 teams and 56 players, who collectively give back to the league to make the league what it is.

The BGBL was founded in the summer of 2013 to provide an alternative to the expensive indoor recreational leagues that tend to not value individual player stats, news articles, video highlights, or season storylines. The league was designed to mirror the NBA, kicking off with a draft of the registered players by the General Managers (GMs). GMs are responsible for managing their respective team's personnel throughout the season, as well as acting as a player-coach. After the draft, teams compete throughout the regular season in games consisting of two 20-minute halves. Seven teams compete for five playoff spots. The top three teams will automatically qualify for the 3-game semifinals playoff series, while the 4th and 5th seed will face off in a play-in game to determine the fourth spot. Two three-game playoff series follow, eventually leading to the last two remaining teams facing off in the final 3-game series, known as the BGBL Finals.
