10:00 a.m. UCLA Bruins vs Oregon Ducks- G.O.T.W
Having the first game of the day is never a fun task, however I believe both squads will be ready baby!!! Let’s look at the Oregon squad and their athletic guards and wings in Jabril Cunnigham and Josh McNair. Both can score anywhere from the floor, look at both players to repeat their play style by playing above the room and looking to get UCLA bigs in foul trouble. Team Oregon will look to push tempo, and force uncharacteristic turnovers. Oregon must rebound the ball well, which will be difficult to do against the best big in the league Damon Smith. UCLA is overwhelmingly loaded as it said before, there are many pieces that can hurt you baby so it’s tough to target just one player. I’m putting my money on Duck, Matt on the offensive end. Look for UCLA to get up to the 80’s baby. If Damon Smith and Vontrell Seroyer in the building this can get ugly baby!!!!! Diaper dandies on full display baby!!!!
UCLA Bruins win by +6.5
11:00 a.m. Texas Longhorns vs UW-Milwaukee Panthers
Both squads look to rebound back from tough losses at the hands of their opponents opening weekend. UW-Milwaukee has potential with the young guards, this team won’t have much wiggle room for mistakes. They will have to play a complete which entail taking smart shots in the half court, find their workhorse Rodney Oliver much more, defend at an elite level, limiting their turnovers, and most importantly buy into what’s working oppose to taking matters into their own hands individually. Texas on the other hand has a few pieces that can be instrumental to getting the win. Texas has to play better in the half court setting, bigs need to position themselves better on the block and look for the cutter, opposed to being a statue and hoisting deep three early in the shot clock. Texas needs to force more turnover in the backcourt and limit their turnovers on the open floor. Shelton Williams has to play better at the rim and limit his turnovers when pressured on the dribble. Carrington Love would make great difference to the baby!!!!!! James Kelley looks to make his debut this morning for Texas which will help greatly baby!!!
Texas Longhorns win by +8.5
12:00 p.m. Jackson State Tigers vs Carroll College
This may be a nail bitter baby!!!!! This will be a fast-paced game as both teams guards love to push tempo and play an open flow style offense. Terry Williams was on fire last week baby!!! Shooting not but trifectas, can he duplicate the same shooting display this week? Aside from the guards, I’m looking forward to the matchup in the paint between Desmond Scott vs Reggie Hearn and Jared Davis vs Ron Singleton baby!!!!! Whoever team demands the paint better on offense and wins the rebounding battle wins. Both squads are well coached for the most part. Jackson State will need to get their bigs involved a bit more. Meanwhile Carroll College has to defend in transition better and limit second chance possessions, which appeared to be a challenge in the last contest. Jackson State guards Leland, Melvin, and Javion will need to take smart shorts, and create better for others offensively. Jackson State will need to defend better in the half court, as they struggled to defend against the weakside several times last weekend . Carroll College moves the ball well, which means Jackson State will need to be locked in defensively. Quon Hicks may be in attendance who’s the vocal leader and is no stranger to playing in big games. It’s only week 2 and so much is already on the line baby!!!!!!!
Jackson State Tigers win by -2.0
1:00 p.m. Cincinnati Bearcats vs Marquette Golden Eagles-G.O.T.W.
Get your popcorn ready baby!!!!! This is the matchup that we get to see early in the season and could potentially be the matchup come June baby!!!! Diaper dandies are on full display this afternoon. I want to start with Cincinnati Bearcats and their phenomenal guards in Keontae White and Dio Caldwell whose not only a bucket but create offense easily for their supporting cast. They will have their hands facing off against a duo that is just as lethal in CJ Jefferson and Ant Thomas. The style of play the Bearcats present can tire out opponents fast if they’re not accustomed to playing a game that fosters high energy with a quicker pace. There are many bulletin points to focus in on when trying to slow down either team. For example, Omar Burton will need to keep Deandre Downey off the boards. The guards from Cincinnati will need to push tempo and give different looks on the defensive end due to Marquette being a team that adjusts well as the game progresses. I honestly believe baby that if Marquette can somehow force Cincinnati to play the court game, they have a better chance of winning. Easier said than done. Cincinnati speeds their opponents up and have great spacing in the open floor that sends defenses into a frenzy.
Cincinnati wins by +1.5
2:00 p.m. Southwest Missouri vs Wisconsin Badgers
This has the potential be a goodie baby!!!! Here’s the headscratcher, Southwest Missouri guards and wings get after you on the defensive end by forcing many turnovers with their trap zones, while Wisconsin guards had difficulty taking care of the ball and turned the ball over at least several times. Potential matchups to key in on is Darvell Brown vs Brian Bearden or Shavon Staples vs Marquese “Kobe” Burks baby!!! Four diaper dandies that can fill up the stat sheet on any given Saturday. Look for Wisconsin to control tempo and reduce the amount of turnover committed compared to last week. These aren’t teams that give up a lot of points, so this can very well be a slow-paced game which would benefit Wisconsin more than Southwest Missouri who has guards and wings that are relentless in the open court. Southwest Missouri will need to shoot the ball more efficiently and take smart shots.
Southwest Missouri win by +3.0
