AZ Basketball Rec League
We just finished up one of our best seasons yet! Almost all playoff games in both divisions came down to the final minute. Even the Finals were won with a clutch buzzer beater for the win.
In this league we sign up as individuals and get arranged to different teams to keep things as equal and competitive as possible and this last season was a good example of that.
If this is your first season with us you’ll get priority of staying with friends of your choice. If you’ve played previously, you know we ask you to be open to maybe being on teams different than your friends to keep things even depending on the players that sign up.
This Winter season we are trying two new game formats that should workout well for this group. We are doing four 12 Minute Quarters for each game with stopping clock for free throws. This will help everyone get more time on the court and should give some quality games. Games will be played between 7 and 10p on Saturday nights in Mesa or Wednesday nights in Phoenix. Games start the first week of November and go until late December
Most teams want to run it back with their squads, when signing up you’ll have a chance to say where you’d prefer to be; if you want to play with the same team for more reps together or try things out with a new squad. Not all requests will be met because the priority is making sure we continue to have competitive games but we will look at preferences and do our best.
The price is $112. There will be 3-4 season games and using those games we will determine seedings for our double elimination playoffs. Guaranteed 3 games for playoffs as well.
Top team from the east and west will play each other in our Finals game the week before Christmas. The first two eliminated teams will play an additional consolation game during playoffs and the team eliminated in the Conference finals will play against the other conferences team in a Bronze cup game the night of the finals. For example if the 1 seed beats the 2 seed in each conference, the 2 seeds will play their own game that night.
Also we have a cap on the amount of players this season. The first guys to pay will get spots for this season.
This format with the small tweaks will help us have more games that mean something for most of the season and will give players a lot more time on the court in higher quality games.
Jersey rentals are included in the price and are to be returned at the end of the season.
