Final scores and recap from Week 2
Suns vs Magic
The first game of the night was a good contest in the first half. The Magic were only down by 3 but the Suns came out firing in the second half and put the Magic to sleep led by the player of the week Mccrady Metelus. The guard finished with 22 points, 8 rebounds and 3 assists. Brandon Davis also had a strong game for the Suns with 11 points, 8 rebounds, 5 assists and 5 steals. The Magic had two new additions on their roster who led the team in scoring with Ralph Sandy having 18 points and 10 boards and Manne Brennan finishing with 12 points and 7 rebounds. If the Magic want to pick up their first win of the season, those two have to find ways to get the rest of their team involved. The Suns are now one of two teams left that are undefeated. It'll be interesting to see their next week matchup against the Nets.
Final Score Magic 45 - 61 Suns
Spurs vs Celtics
Our second contest of the night was a scrappy one. The Celtics captain Kevaun Smith came out ready to play as he had 5 three's to finish with 20 points on the night, but I'd say the key player and difference maker for the Celtics was big man Nate Baker who finished with 17 points and 15 boards. The Spurs had a great game from their big man Jacob Warfle who finished with 22 points and 8 boards. The Spurs who hit a lot of three's in their week 1 win could not get it going from deep. The Celtics bounce back after a week 1 loss to the Lakers and now get ready to face the 0-2 Magic. The Spurs on the other hand have a tough matchup as they face the Warriors who are coming off a tough loss against the Lakers in week 2.
Final Score Spurs 65 - 79 Celtics
Lakers vs Warriors
Our game of the week was a tough defensive battle the whole game. The Lakers had a two point lead in the second half but came out hitting from deep to start the second half and the Warriors just did not have an answer. Overall the Lakers had a great game as they had every person score and were led by DJ Haynes who finished with 14 points. Jimmy Andrail came off the bench and added 12 points for the Lakers. The Warriors had another strong performance from their captain Dominic Vigrass who finished with another double double with 17 points and 11 rebounds. It'll be interesting to see how the Warriors bounce back in their next week matchup against the Spurs. The Lakers on the other hand have a matchup against the winless Cavs, we can see them maybe going the season undefeated.
Final Score Lakers 63 - 43 Warriors
Nets vs Cavaliers
Our final game of the night was a good matchup against these two teams who lost their week 1 contest. The Nets had their full roster show up and had strong performances from Jayhden Moncrease and Harley Hanson who made their season debut. The Nets best player, Chase Breck, had another strong shooting performance as he finished with 3 three's and 15 points. One of the Cavaliers top performances last week came from Jaylan Bradshaw but this week he fouled out with 10 minutes to go in the second half and finished with 3 points. We can see him bouncing back big next week as they take on the Lakers. The Nets will be a team to watch if they can get their full squad to show up.
Final Score Nets 59 - 51 Cavaliers
