According to sources close to the team the Boston Celtics are planning to sign Free Agent Matthew Sopp off of waivers. He was seen practicing at Pete’s Park late Thursday night showing that the signing is almost certain. This signing isn’t all good news in the Celtics organization as sharpshooter Will TenHope is shocked and devastated by the signing and doesn’t like the direction his organization is going in. He allegedly found out about this acquisition on social media and was not informed by his team due to the fact he is left out of the team group chat. I was privileged with the opportunity to speak with TenHope on his current thoughts on the situation, “I was a proud member of the Celtics, I think it's a great team and a true contender for the PPA title this year. I went in knowing I was a role player and I’ve got no problem with being a guy that doesn’t play much, although I was expecting a little more than the 1 minute yes one minute of playing time that I got. I played my role when I went in, no one I guarded had any buckets on me and I just watched on the offensive side of things as we kept feeding our star to keep shooting. The true reason for my frustration is the free agent pickup of Matt Sopp, a guy who is clearly going to fill that 4 man spot better than me. I mean he’s bigger, faster and has a history in basketball but he doesn’t have more heart. My teammates also supposedly had created a team gc on Snapchat that didn’t include me. Felt like a knife right through my heart when I heard that. I want out and I wanna play for a team that’s gonna get me involved more and treat me better and I think I might’ve found the place. But I’ll stay quiet for now.” Things sure look ugly in Boston and hopefully things can get sorted out but these relationships seem to be beyond repair. Hopefully TenHope finds a new squad that will value the positive impact he can have for a team on and off the court if he gets the respect he deserves in return.
