Losing only one starter from last year, the Elwood Lakers look like a force to be reckoned with this season. Long-time Lakers' head coach, Jim Feltham believes the team's success will depend on how quickly two of their injured starters, Evan Lodge and Gavin Curtis, can return to the line-up, and how quickly the grade 10 players adjust to the speed and physicality of high school basketball.

In a COVID-19 shortened season, last year, the Elwood squad was ranked #4 in the province, and Feltham believes having top provincial players guard Gavin Curtis and forward Ryan Legge, and deep supporting cast when healthy, will make them strong favourites in the WCHSBL. He also says that his group having not played as a team since last February, the principal goal is to re-establish team unity and team concept.

Coach Feltham says that the new WCHSBL is a godsend for high school basketball this year with travel restriction, and along with his players excited to get the season started.
