The Conquistadors defeated the Colonels 80-72 in the first game of the season for both teams. Team captain, Mitch Henke, led the Conquistadors with 21 points. Mark Gray chipped in a double-double with 10 points and 14 rebounds, along with some tenacious defense. For the short-handed Colonels, Christopher Mueller poured in a game high 27 points. It was a back and forth effort between the two teams, but with the Colonels missing several key players, they came up just short. The 72 points allowed by the Conquistadors was the lowest in the league during Week 1.
