BYB League week 7 action tipped off at MSA gymnasium this past Saturday afternoon with a highly contested and fiesty game between last season's BYB League Champion, MAMBAS and this season's current league leader's COBRAS who post an impressive 6-0 start thanks inpart to Coach Hendrickson's leadership and coaching style. The Cobras without their leading scorer Troy Washington Jr (15.4pts) due to injury adopted the next man up philosphy and showed why they are undefeated as they had no trouble scoring the basketball with Quinton Husband 28pts and Max Kimberly's double-double 11pts 13 rebs kept the offense flowing with timely baskets shooting 44% from 3pt land. The MAMBAS not to be outdone refused to lay down as they showed exactly why they were last seasons BYB Champions as they quickly erased a 20 point second half deficit to force the game into overtime. In Overtime period, the game went back and forth and came down to one final defensive stop by the COBRAS to edge out the win and continue to 7 - 0. Final score 59-57
In the seond game of the evening the surging BULLDOGS are silently becoming a threat to watch as wenenter the second half of the season. Last years BYB finalist have had a rough start to the season but have lately turn things around. The same cant be said about the PIRANHAS, this team loaded with talent just cant seem to catch a break. The PIRANHAS play fiesty defense and can out score any team in the league but the record doesnt reflect that. This game played out with the BULLDOGS jumping out to an early lead with PG Blake Johnston constantly putting his team in excellent places to score as he lead the team with seven assists. The PIRANHAS fought back with the dou of Maxwell Lawrence 21pts 8 rebs and Stasio Raynor-Weller 16pts trying to will their team to a victory but the PIRANHAS had no answer for Jordon Marsh who was constantly a flash in the open court and menace on the boards the combo guard finished with 22 pts 10 rebs to push the BULLDOGS to 4 -3 as they defeated the PIRANHAS 63-55
