BPBL Power Poll 1 is here!! After seeing each team play a minimum of 4 times, I've decided to put together a weekly Power Poll ranking based on what I've seen.

Keep in mind, this is one person's opinion. I will base these rankings off team record, impressive wins/performances, strength of schedule, and player personnel.

BPBL Power Poll 1:

  1. Davis College (4-0) - In order be the man, you've gotta beat the man. Davis has started this season right where it left off, red hot. Winning its first four games after sweeping Enfields in last season's best of 3 championship, Davis so far has an average win margin of 31.8 points, while holding its opponents to a league-low 53.5 points per game. A balanced offense with league leading rebounder Hayden Ward (12.3 boards) and league leading assist man Walter Sampson (9.3 assists). The king stay the king....until someone knocks them off their throne. Opponents combined record: 3-14.

  2. Jrama's (4-0) - Tough call putting them at #2 considering their 45.5 average win margin. Jrama's is putting up an astounding 100 points per game, and currently has 6 players averaging at least 9 points per game. They have the league's leading scorer (Ky Sutton), second and third leading rebounders (Sutton and Caron Hill), #2 man in assists (Jimmy Gray) and the top 2 leaders in Blocked shots (Sutton and Hill). A team stat filling machine. Opponents combined record: 2-14.

  3. Miller Auto Team (4-0) - Getting the #3 overall nod is Miller, thanks in large part to their 4-0 overall record, and their impressive win against Tim Collins. A balanced offense with 5 players in double figures (Mike Patterson, Alex Bogdanovic Mushalla, Adam Tillotson, Jon Connolly, Nick Mushalla) helps steady this scoring attack. Get the nod at 3 over Zona thanks to their victory against T.C. Point differential of only 11 points per game, this team has been in a few dog fights so they are beatable. Opponents combined record: 5-12.

  4. Zona & The Rail (4-0) - Undefeated Zona's checks in at #4 with an impressive average win margin of 24.8. They are third in the league in points per game, and third in the league in points allowed. Shaquan Jordan leads the way for The Rail, averaging 23.3 points, 10.3 rebounds and 6 assists per game, and Luis Torres Jr. checks in with an impressive 17.3 points, 5.8 rebounds and 5.3 assists. Opponents combined record: 3-14.

  5. Tim Collins Home Improvement (4-1) - A nice start for TC with its only loss a 10 point defeat to undefeated Miller Auto Team. Eric Edwards leads the way with 19 points and 7.8 rebounds, while Reggie Leaver checks in at 15.3 points and 5.5 boards. A team that could very well make some noise come playoff time. Opponents combined record: 8-13

  6. The Wedge Group (2-3) - A team that has only had its full squad there for one game, Wedge is still a bit of an unknown. Second league leading scorer Moni Anderson is putting in an impressive 26.3 points per game, and has been deadly from 3 point range. This team has 5 players averaging at least 13.5 points per game. Will be interesting to see how they perform if they can consistently be at full strength. Opponents combined record 13-8.

  7. Giblin's Irish Pub (1-3) - Homer alert! Giblin's is as talented as anyone, and has been hit with a very tough early season schedule. Took undefeated Miller Auto Team to overtime, and was only down 10 to Jrama's with 5 minutes to go this past Wednesday. Has 2 players in the top 5 in scoring Seth Thomsen 22.0 and Ralph Bucci 20.5), and will hopefully be getting yours truly back next week (Watch out league!! :)). Big things ahead for Gibs! Opponents combined record:
    12-5.

  8. Worldwide Sport (1-3) - Coming off a nice win last Wednesday against Save Around when it finally had its full arsenal of players, Worldwide is a team on the rise. Tough start on the schedule so far, with 3 of its 4 games against undefeated teams. Frank D'Esti leads the way with 19 points and 6 dimes, while brother Joe D'Esti chips in with 12.3 points and 8.3 boards. Gets the nod over Save Around at 8 thanks to its head to head win. Opponents combined record: 13-3.

  9. Save Around (1-3) - Some close losses for S.A. so far, as they only have a point differential of -4.0 ppg despite a 1-3 record. Tom Torto leads the way with 15 points and 6.3 boards. Took 4-1 Tim Collins to Overtime. Once it gets the Mullins boys back full-time this team could be very dangerous. Opponents combined record: 7-10.

  10. Progressive Dental (0-4) - The toughest schedule of the season so far award goes to Davis College, facing all 4 undefeated teams in its first 4 games (Sorry fellas, luck of the draw). Progressive definitely has some talent on its squad, and is led by Jeremy Andujar with 12.3 points and 5.7 boards. Opponents combined record: 16-0!!

  11. Parlor City Pizza (0-4) - Last year's third place finishers with most of its players back is off to a rough start. Has faced 3 undefeated teams so far. Led by Carnell Chandler with 13.5 points and 7 boards, and Williams Cache's 12.3 points and 3.8 dimes. Opponents combined record: 13-3.

  12. Face's Barber Shop (0-4) - A first year team that is still trying to find its way. With a handful of former college players, this team definitely has the talent to compete. Only played one undefeated team so far, so tough games ahead. Opponents combined record: 11-7.

There you have it! One man's opinion. I'll do my best to put this out every Friday. Feel free to debate aka tell me why I'm wrong. Could very well see some movement in this poll next week as undefeated Jrama's takes on undefeated Miller Auto Team at 6pm next Wednesday.
