Mwatate United has appointed long serving assistant coach Mark Asa as the head Coach for the upcoming National Super League season and tasked with taking the Mwatate based club to the Kenya Premier League.
Mark Asa has worked under various head coaches at Mwatate among them Andrew Kaluna and Benedict Wanjala Simiyu . Mwatate United has been pleased with his progress over the years and believes the Caf C coaching license holder is the man to steer the club's wheel forward
Upon his confirmation as the head Coach ,Mark has promised to use all the available resources at the club to hit the target and have a team from Taita play in the top flight football in Kenya . Asa was very active in the transfer window bringing in a mixture of experienced and youth players in the club .
Victor Ochieng and Micheal Owili join the Mwatate based club from Aps Bomet to add experience into the Mwatate's defense . Midfielder Abubakari Hamza also joins the from national Super League club Mombasa Elites as well as youngster Brian Soita who joins from Afc Leopards youths
Apart from aiming at premier league promotion,Mark Asa is also set to continue with the club's DNA of producing players to top tier clubs. Mwatate United has in two successive years produced national Super League top scorers in Cornelius Juma who currently turns out for FKFPL side Kenya Police and Elly Saenyi who signed for Ulinzi Stars .
Mwatate United are currently ranked sixth in the National Super League Standings with six points from three games . Mwatate United defeated Coastal Heroes two goals to nil at Wundanyi Stadium before benefiting from a walkover aganist Fortune sacco .
