Vital'O hosted Burundi President's cup defending champions Bumamuru Fc at Stade Urunani in Buganda region , Ugandà province of Burundi in Burundi Premier League fixture played on Sunday evening with both Vital'O and Bumamuru Fc keeping sights on the top position on Burundi Premier League table.
Heading into the match Vital'O were enjoying a 13 match streak and a win could have seen them leapfrog Aigle Noir at the summit , Bumamuru Fc were boasting a five match streak without losing and a stake to leapfrog Aigle Noir too at the summit was in offer .
Bumamuru Fc coach Vivier Bahati made only one change to his squad bringing in Jamari Bazunza to the 18 man squad as his counter part Jean Gilbert Kagabo made no change to the squad that halted Kayanza United winning streak the previous weekend
As centre referee Ndabihawenimana Pacifque got the match underway for the first half,both teams seemed to be hungry for goals as custodians Hussein Ndayishimiye and Patient Ndikuriyo were forced to make early saves to keep both Vital'O and Bumamuru Fc in the game .A clear chance came into 40th minute when Richard Kirongozi Bazombwa rounded up the Vital'O defenders to remain one on one with goalkeeper Hussein Ndayishimiye but his effort was tipped out for a corner kick .The first half ended with a barren draw
Jean Nzeyimana was introduced following an injury to Amissi Irakoze on Vital'O side but was unable to keep up with Bumamuru Fc pace ,as the second half started with fireworks . Shassir Nahimana picked up a Alfred Nkurunzinza cross to send the ball into the top right corner in the 47th minute to break the deadlock and give Bumamuru a deserved lead
Bumamuru Fc who were now lively in the game controlled possession after Nahimana goal and four minutes later , Nahimana exchanged a one two with Richard Kirongozi Bazombwa for the latter to score from a close range this was Kirongozi fifth goal of the season and Bumamuru's second of the game .
Vital'O caught by a quick turn of events inside 4 minutes ,were now pushing to be back in game with the entire team attacking Bumamuru Fc ,a counter attack started by Bumamuru Fc goalkeeper Patient Ndikuriyo ended up with Alfred Nkurunzinza scoring a third for the 2013 Burundi Premier League champions to take a game even more far for Vital'O .
Beh Ahmed Ouatara was added into already lethal Bumamuru Fc front three with Micheal Ballack Ndikumana resting and player maker Aruna Madjaliwa Musa also coming in for Bumamuru Fc in place of Burundi under 20 Ramadhan Salum. Vital'O got one back in the 67th minute but it was not enough to tame the already rampant Bumamuru Fc .Jamari Bazunza ,making his Burundi Premier League start of the season scored two minutes after been subbed on for Shassir Nahimana to give Bamamuru Fc a 4th goal of the afternoon
With seconds left to the end of the match,Jamari Bazunza picked up Richard Kirongozi Bazombwa with a counter attack ball to slot home a fifth for Bumamuru Fc in an empty net as the final whistle blew .
The second half saw six goals scored with Bumamuru Fc emerging winners of a tie that was highly contested in the first half .The win takes Bumamuru Fc to top of Burundi Premier League table with 21 points from 9 games with one match in hand , Aigle Noir drop to second though with 21 points but inferior goal difference .
The lose is first for Vital'O this season and it takes them to 3rd with on Burundi Premier League table with 19 points from 10 games.
