Skillful Ballers Crowned Junior Champions After Dominant Finale

TORTOLA, British Virgin Islands — August 9, 2026 — Skillful Ballers put the finishing touches on a dominant championship run Sunday evening, defeating Mt. Zion Stars 95–48 at the Multi-Purpose Sports Complex to capture the Junior Division championship.

Skillful Ballers wasted little time establishing control, exploding to a 25–5 lead after the opening quarter. They continued to apply pressure in the second period, extending their advantage to 47–23 at halftime.

Mt. Zion Stars showed signs of life in the third quarter, outscoring Skillful Ballers 23–13 to cut the deficit slightly. However, any hopes of a comeback disappeared in the final period as Skillful Ballers erupted for 35 points while holding Mt. Zion to just two, closing out the championship with a commanding 47-point victory.

Alec Leonard led a balanced Skillful Ballers attack with 17 points, including three three-pointers, while also contributing five rebounds, seven assists, and three steals. Jadey Glasgow added 16 points and 13 rebounds, while Jah-shamane Daniel scored 14.

Skillful Ballers received significant contributions throughout the lineup, with Akhori Sebastian, Christian Mark, Kevin Prince and Ne’Shawn Frett each scoring 12 points. The champions also dominated the glass, collecting 55 rebounds while recording 22 steals and 19 assists.

Mt. Zion was led by Steven Palmer, who scored 13 points, while K’Andre Barry added 12 points and 12 rebounds.

The victory capped an impressive championship campaign for Skillful Ballers, who finished the postseason with a 5–1 record. Their commanding performance in the deciding game secured the Junior Division title and sent the team into celebration as the 2026 BVIBA Junior Champions.
