Skillful Ballers Dominate Game 1 of Junior Championship Series

The Skillful Ballers (JR) took complete control of Game 1 of the Junior Division Championship Series on Sunday evening, rolling to a commanding 110-42 victory over the Mt. Zion Stars (JR) at the Multi-Purpose Sports Complex.

From the opening tip, Skillful Ballers set the tone, racing to an 18-5 first-quarter lead before exploding for 36 points in the second quarter to carry a comfortable 54-14 advantage into halftime. They never let up, outscoring Mt. Zion in every period to take a 1-0 lead in the best-of-three championship series.

The Ballers showcased impressive teamwork with 23 assists, dominated the glass with 64 rebounds, and created havoc defensively with an incredible 36 steals.

A balanced offensive attack fueled the victory as Alec Leonard and Jah-shamane Daniel each scored 19 points. Leonard also stuffed the stat sheet with 8 rebounds, 10 steals, and a block, while Daniel added 9 steals. Kishawn Martin contributed 16 points and 7 rebounds, and Akhori Sebastian chipped in 11 points. Christian Mark controlled the paint with 10 points and 11 rebounds, while Kevin Prince added 9 points and a game-high 12 rebounds.

For the Mt. Zion Stars, Zion Phillips led the way with 15 points, 11 rebounds, and 2 blocks, while Stefaun Palmer and Steven Palmer each scored 8 points. Despite their effort, Mt. Zion struggled against the relentless defensive pressure and high-paced offense of the Skillful Ballers.

With the emphatic win, Skillful Ballers now hold a 1-0 series advantage and will look to close out the championship in Game 2, while Mt. Zion Stars will aim to regroup and force a decisive third game.
