VG Elite Sweep Relentless to Advance in Playoffs After Thrilling Game 2 Victory

VG Elite punched their ticket to the next round of the playoffs after completing a 2-0 sweep of Relentless with an exciting 85-81 victory in Game 2 of their best-of-three series on Saturday night at the Multi-Purpose Sports Complex.

In a game that featured several momentum swings, VG Elite showed poise and composure down the stretch to eliminate a determined Relentless team and continue their championship pursuit.

VG Elite came out firing, building a 27-15 lead after the opening quarter behind a balanced offensive attack. Relentless responded in the second quarter, cutting into the deficit with a 26-18 run to make it a four-point game at halftime, 45-41.

The battle continued in the second half as both teams traded baskets and defensive stops. Relentless pushed ahead in the third quarter, but VG Elite regained control in the final period, using a 24-point fourth quarter to hold off the comeback attempt and secure the series-clinching victory.

Stephano Paul was outstanding once again for VG Elite, leading the way with 21 points while contributing eight rebounds and five assists. Jolyon Wilson added 17 points, eight rebounds and four assists, while Kimron Telemaque scored 14 points, including three three-pointers. Stephon Caul chipped in 12 points and three steals, and Lekoy Lennard added 10 points and nine rebounds as VG Elite received contributions throughout the lineup.

Relentless fought hard behind Shakeem “Velli” Blackmore, who led his team with 20 points. Devante Brewley finished with 16 points, Trent Herbert added 14 points, and Asim Beazer knocked down four three-pointers on his way to 12 points.

Despite winning the rebounding battle 47-44 and keeping the pressure on throughout the contest, Relentless could not overcome VG Elite’s balanced scoring and late-game execution.

With the 85-81 victory, VG Elite completed the 2-0 sweep and advanced to the next round of the playoffs, while Relentless’ postseason journey came to an end. Relentless battled throughout the series but was unable to contain VG Elite’s depth, defensive intensity and ability to make key plays when the game was on the line.
