ALL GAS NO BRAKES Pulls Away in Second Half to Defeat EMPIRE

ROAD TOWN, Virgin Islands — ALL GAS NO BRAKES used a dominant second-half performance to secure its first victory of the season, defeating EMPIRE 84-63 on Saturday night at the Multi-Purpose Sports Complex.

After building a 21-12 lead in the opening quarter, ALL GAS NO BRAKES saw EMPIRE respond in the second period, trimming the deficit to 44-35 at halftime. However, ALL GAS NO BRAKES took control after the break, erupting for 33 points in the third quarter while holding EMPIRE to just 15, effectively putting the game out of reach.

Nkel Stevens led the winners with a game-high 20 points, nine rebounds, and three assists. Xiiomar Gunn added 18 points, three rebounds, three assists, and four steals, while Alec Leonard finished with 15 points, six rebounds, and three assists. Kalique Maduro contributed 12 points and four rebounds, and Amarlee Glasgow chipped in 11 points and a team-high five assists.

ALL GAS NO BRAKES displayed a balanced offensive attack throughout the contest, with five players scoring in double figures. The team also moved the ball effectively, recording 16 assists and forcing several key turnovers that helped fuel its transition game.

EMPIRE was led by Drexton Gaton, who scored 17 points and added two rebounds and two assists. Michael Leonard contributed 14 points, six rebounds, one assist, and two steals, while Timron Nickie finished with 10 points, three rebounds, and one assist. Nathan Francis added six points and a team-high seven rebounds in the losing effort.

ALL GAS NO BRAKES held a slight 39-37 advantage on the boards and finished with 13 steals compared to six for EMPIRE. The defensive pressure and strong third-quarter surge proved to be the difference as ALL GAS NO BRAKES improved to 1-3 on the season.

The loss dropped EMPIRE to 0-4, as the team continues to search for its first win of the campaign.
